Default Group

  • Each Location can have a default group set. This group is applied when the computer is first added to the labtech system.
  • Note: It is never applied when you move a computer from one location to another.
  • This can be used to configure computers when they are first added to the system.
  • Scripts could be set up in the group to install tools and applications, configure registry settings, set up the monitors and scripts, apply groups depending on certain criteria, and endless other possibilities.

Syncronized Groups

  • Groups that are synced to Clients or Locations will appear as that client or location in the group list.
  • When these groups are double-clicked they will open the respective client or location.
  • To open and edit the groups properties hold Shift while double clicking.
  • In the group properties you select the type of link to make
    • Client
    • Location
  • Once these are set the next time the tree is displayed the group will look like the item selected.
    • Note: Ctrl+Refresh will reload the tree to reflect these changes
  • To make the group populate itself with the computers that belong to it, simply check the box marked 'Sync'.
    • This will perform a sync every 30 minutes and add all computers in that item to this group.
    • When the computer is added to the group the template will be applied to it.
    • If the group is Synced to a Client all the client's computers will be added to the group.

Auto Join Search

image:groups-autojoinsearch.png

  • Groups can also be synchronized with any saved search
  • All searches will be available in the pull-down menu and the sync is performed every 30 minutes.
  • Several values affect the way the sync works:
    • Limit To will remove any computer that no longer meets the search criteria.
    • Master Groups will remove membership to ANY non-master groups.
    • Grayed Master Group will prevent removal from this group but not trigger removal from other groups.
