Introduction
A Network Probe is a Service running on a designated computer per location that will scan the network for other devices without the LabTech Agent installed on them. This opens up possibilites of monitoring and inventory management of devices without extra license costs. Enabling the Network Probe also opens up the functionality for SNMP Trapping, a TFTP Server, Syslog Event Trapping and the Network Push option.
To enable a probe, check the box on the Welcome Tab of a Computer Management screen. The probe scans the network when the service is started, then every six hours. The network probe scans the first 1024 addresses in a network, so if your subnet allows more than 1024, it will only scan the first 1024 addresses in the network.
- Note: Use one Network Probe per location on a computer that is constantly online and unfrequently used.
